carlier | gebauer is an established and international gallery in the art district / U-Bahn Kochstrasse in Berlin with a dependance in Madrid.

To strengthen our team in Berlin, we are now looking for the following full or part-time positions:

Director / Head of Operations, Berlin (32-40hrs/week)

Coordinating all day-to-day operations of the gallery, the Director ⁄ Head of Operations keeps an overview of all operations and tasks leading to the production of the internal exhibitions of the gallery. It is a team-leading position, coordinating all Departments of the gallery in Berlin. The role connects the Logistics Department with the Exhibitions & Sales Department, the back and front offices. The position requires solid experience of management at an art gallery.

Production Manager, Berlin (32 to 40hrs/week)

Liaising with the artist studios and Artist Liaisons of the gallery, the Production Manager coordinates the fabrication of artworks in close collaboration with external partners. Accompanying each project throughout all stages of development, the Production Manager will deliver in a timely manner proposals and solutions to meet all exhibitions and activities’ deadlines linked to the gallery's schedule. The successful candidate has proven experience coordinating production of large-scale and multidisciplinary artworks, as well as in depth experience working in a team.

The role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

- Coordination of production projects in close collaboration and communication with artists and producers
- Quality control of ongoing productions
- Processing and controlling of all generated production costs together with the accounting department of the gallery
- Planning of installation and de-installation schedules of internal and external exhibitions of the gallery
- Manage a team of technicians/art handlers during exhibition set-ups and dismantles, and during the day-to-day in the warehouse
- Creating installation manuals / instructions for collectors and institutions
- Ordering transport crates and appropriate packaging for produced works together
- Database maintenance (creating and updating inventory entries)

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

- Several years of gallery experience - ideally in art production and exhibition planning
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Flexibility, ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel
- German and English as native language or on native level

Registrar, Berlin (32 to 40hrs/week)

Coordinating all logistics ranging from managing imports and exports, to planning and supervising all movements of artworks within and outside of the gallery, the Registrar will work closely with the Logistics and Production Managers of the gallery to conduct inspections and condition reports, generate necessary paperwork, and record property and location information in the gallery’s database. Acting as the first point of contact for all incoming and outgoing art, while also working closely with the Sales team and the clients of the gallery. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a fine art shipping company or similar and must have detailed knowledge of customs and tax regulations.

The role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

- Planning, coordination and handling of all domestic and international transports
- Warehouse logistics of internal and external warehouses
- Proper packing for transport and storage
- Instruction and cooperation with assistants, technicians and art-handlers of the gallery
- General inventory maintenance and updating of database with input of all relevant information
- Coordination and cooperation during set-up and dismantling, installation / de-installation of works in the gallery and at fairs
- Technical and logistical support of the exhibitions on site
- Handling of insurance claims and condition inspections of the works

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

- Several years of professional experience in the field of art at an international level
- Very good knowledge in the field of art handling, packaging, handling, storage of artworks
- A basic understanding of import/export and tax regulations, and willingness to extend their knowledge on the topic
- Flexibility and willingness to travel
- German and English as native language or on native level
