Marcellvs L.’s videos and sound installations create a tangible, physical staging of time and slows it down by setting commonplace objects in a state of perpetual duration, which seems to detach them from reality. The physicality produced by the sound and rhythm of the films makes the videos into passages for the viewer; the films turn into spaces of transit for the confrontation of possibility.
He has participated in numerous biennials internationally, including the 16th Biennale of Sydney; 9th Lyon Biennale of Lyon; 27th São Paulo Biennial. Museum exhibitions include Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon, Lyon; Helsinki Art Museum, Helsinki; Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo; ICA, London; n.b.k, Berlin; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; New Museum, New York; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid; ZKM Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologien, Karlsruhe; and Museum of Modern Art, São Paulo.
