Paris Photo, 2024
07.–10.11.2024
We are pleased to announce its participation in Paris Photo, booth D24, presenting works by Abdulhamid Kircher, Lúcia Koch, Dor Guez and Paul Graham.
Abdulhamid Kircher’s photography explores reconciliation, questions of identity, and the effects of patriarchy and violence. Our presentation will feature an excerpt from his site-specific installation ‘Rotting from Within’ and framed photographs from his first solo presentation in Europe, exhibited at carlier | gebauer, Berlin from earlier this year. In 2024 it was announced that Abdulhamid Kircher had been shortlisted for the Paris Photo-Aperture First PhotoBook Award.
Lúcia Koch’s photographs encourage contemplation and engagement with the artwork’s physical and conceptual dimensions. Her playful series ‘Fundos’ reveals the insides of empty boxes, creating disorienting and uncanny images that resemble life-size rooms and sometimes even large-scale immersive photographs project the human body into non-existent spaces, inviting viewers to reconsider their perceptions of built environments.
Dor Guez’s photography explores the relationship between art, narrative, and memory. At Paris Photo, we will present photographs from his new series ‘Khobiza’ and excerpts from a body of work formerly presented as part of Guez’s solo museum exhibition ‘Amid Imperial Grids’ (2023) at the Felix Nussbaum House, Osnabrück, and his recent solo show ‘Not knowing is a good place to start’ at carlier | gebauer, Berlin. Both series contribute to uncovering the multiple facets between first-hand accounts and dominant cultural narratives using archival materials from both public and private sources.
Paul Graham’s photographs have garnered recognition for their development of fresh ways of visualising the world, yet always retaining a deep commitment to working directly with life. For his latest series, ‘Verdigris’, Paul Graham examines cherry blossoms – archetypal objects of natural beauty – and their viewers to create a layered examination of the way we see and experience the beauty of the world.
