Jessica Rankin’s ‘Stone/Folding’ is a new series of drawings and embroideries inspired by a Parthenon sculpture held in the British Museum, believed to be a sculpture of Greek goddesses Aphrodite and her mother Dione. Rankin’s work explores the complex relationships between mothers and daughters, constellations, as well as the British Empire, Brexit and the refugee crisis.
Rankin invites critically acclaimed poets Amy Key, Sarah Howe and Brenda Shaughnessy to give a response to her works as part of the Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival.
