In 2025, the Museums of Marseille are presenting a major project by Laure Prouvost at the chapel of the Centre de la Vieille Charité. In response to the site’s unique architecture and layered history, the artist has conceived a monumental installation: a maternal and fertile figure infused with dreamlike and underwater imagery. The work conjures the memories of those who have passed through the Panier district over the centuries and invites visitors into a poetic, immersive, and participatory experience.
In parallel, the [mac] Museum of Contemporary Art in Marseille is screening Prouvost’s celebrated film Deep See Blue Surrounding You / Vois Ce Bleu Profond Te Fondre, originally presented at the 2019 Venice Biennale and now part of the city’s public collection, in the [mac]room.
Together, the two presentations offer a powerful exploration of fluidity, memory, and transformation—hallmarks of Prouvost’s singular practice.
