Laure Prouvost takes over the MUCEM with a poetic carte blanche, transforming the storerooms of the museum into a dreamlike journey through glass, flora, and Mediterranean myth. Drawing on surrealist imagery and a deep connection to the living world, the artist breathes new life into forgotten objects, inviting them to metamorphose.
In video, sculpture, and installation, her creations made especially for the exhibition unfold across Fort Saint-Jean in usually inaccessible spaces. From underwater scenes in the calanques to a whirligig visible from the Old Port, Prouvost blurs the line between heritage and fiction.
The exhibition invites visitors to wander the fort’s walls, discovering sensory, humorous, and magical encounters with art and life.
