carlier | gebauer, Madrid, is pleased to announce the group exhibition Sistemas Fluidos. Travelling from Berlin to Madrid, Sistemas Fluidos expands on the conceptual and aesthetic framework of Fluid Systems, first presented at carlier | gebauer, Berlin, on the occasion of Berlin Art Week 2025.
The exhibition is conceived thematically. Due to the museum-like structure of the Berlin gallery spaces, Fluid Systems in Berlin was divided into several distinct thematic sections. Now, in Madrid, the exhibition is much denser; the energy fields between the works are sometimes intense, generating strong vibrations and rhythms. Some video works and sculptures from the Berlin exhibition have been omitted, and some paintings and drawings have been exchanged. Sistemas Fluidos in Madrid is thematically unchanged from Fluid Systems in Berlin, but the perception of the individual works, and of the exhibition as a whole, is completely different.
Sistemas Fluidos explores fluidity as a site of metamorphosis: a continuous, ideologic process in which gender, identity, and social constructs dissolve into transient states of becoming. Engaging with the transcendence of fixed categories, it foregrounds phenomena that resist comprehension, gesturing toward the unknown as both subject and method.
These layered experiences dissolve linear narratives, offering instead a choreography of fluidity, where ecological, cultural, and personal histories intertwine in complex, evolving constellations of meaning.
